The Dungeons & Dragons Inspired Chapter in Dead by Daylight Revealed

Dead by Daylight has recently teased an upcoming chapter inspired by Dungeons & Dragons, which introduces a new killer pulled from the pages of the fantasy pen-and-paper RPG. The next killer, Vecna, a long-running mega-baddie and inspiration for the Stranger Things villain, will be voiced by Critical Role dungeon master Matthew Mercer. This exciting crossover will also bring new survivor characters and gameplay elements to the popular multiplayer horror game.

Vecna, the D&D-inspired killer, will be making its debut in Dead by Daylight on June 3rd. This lich character will have unique abilities, including four spells to wield, marking a first for the game. Players can expect Vecna to have the power to fly, fire off projectiles, manipulate objects using Mage Hand, and reveal survivors in a Dispelling Sphere. Additionally, Vecna’s Hand and Eye can be found in treasure chests on the new Forgotten Ruins map, offering powerful gear if players roll a nat 20 on a d20. However, a critical fail could lead to trouble for them instead.

The new survivors, Baermar Uraz and Aestri Yazar, collectively known as The Troupe, bring their own unique abilities to the game. These human and elf bard characters can create illusions, provide Bardic Inspiration to speed up generator-fixing, and spot nearby generators and items with Still Sight. The addition of these characters adds a new dynamic to the gameplay experience in Dead by Daylight.

After the D&D chapter release in early June, Dead by Daylight developers have teased an upcoming chapter inspired by Castlevania. Fans can expect more information on this on August 6th, with speculations pointing towards the inclusion of a bloodsucking Dracula and a Belmont survivor. Additionally, a new supersized casual mode is set to launch this summer, allowing for two killers to face off against eight survivors. Caught survivors will be caged in this mode, with perks disabled and replaced by a class system for balance.

In addition to the new chapters and gameplay modes, Behaviour Interactive has revealed plans for an Insider Programme for codenamed PvE game Project T. The studio also announced another spin-off from Dead by Daylight, a two-player co-op roguelite set inside a Jumanji-like cursed board game titled What the Fog. This new showcases the ongoing commitment of the developers to provide fresh and exciting experiences for players.

With the introduction of Vecna as a new killer, as well as The Troupe as survivor characters, the Dungeons & Dragons inspired chapter in Dead by Daylight promises an immersive and thrilling gameplay experience for fans of the popular horror game. The upcoming content and updates indicate a bright for Dead by Daylight, with new chapters and gameplay modes to keep players engaged and excited for what’s to come in the world of the Entity.
